1
How does the sealer work?
Concrete sealers are applied to surfaces for protective purposes. The chemical makeups of sealers provide certain utility and qualities for different concrete surfaces. Sealing protects your investment, extends it's longevity, enhances colour and gives your concrete a brilliant luster.
2
When is the best time of year to seal concrete/interlock?
The best time to seal your concrete/interlock is during spring-fall as long as it is not raining and/or snowing.
3
How long before you can drive on a sealed driveway, walkway and patio?
We recommend waiting until the area appears to be dry. It begins penetrating the pores immediately, so it is often fully sealed within a couple of hours. We always recommend exercising caution based on your preference. With an acrylic sealer, you generally need to wait up to 48 hours before safely driving and/or on it.
4
How long does sealer last?
Sealer lasts about two years, and that is based on the many factors including traffic, weather and usage a concrete/interlock surface takes.
5
Pressure washing or power washing is the popular practice of cleaning using high pressure water spraying. The high-pressure water spraying is achieved by specially designed pumps. This type of cleaning is many times more powerful than the pressure that comes out of a typical garden hose.
If you choose to use on concrete it removes mold and mildew, bubble gum, and other dirt stains. Also, pressure washing can make wooden decks look like new. Pressure washing is commonly used by homeowners and businesses to improve the appearance of their driveway and other signs of neglect.
6
Do I really have to seal my concrete and interlock?
Yes! The porosity of unsealed concrete leads to water penetration, premature cracking, staines from oil, rust, dirt and other damaging substances.
One of the best ways to equate Sealing is to to an oil change or car wash & wax, when you purchase a vehicle for thousands of dollars the best way to protect that investment is to change the oil and the best way to protect the paint is to wash it & Seal it with wax. Concrete and interlock washing and sealing is necessary to ensure look and longevity of your investment. Sealing prevents damage, loss of colour, pitting, water penetration and freeze thaw cracking.
Sealing enhances the look and protects the colour keeping your concrete looking like new.
Sealing a driveway/walkway not only extends its service life, but it also improves the appearance of plain or a decorative concrete driveway by eliminating any unwanted intrusions into the pores of the concrete. Most seal coatings protect your driveway colour from fading. If you live in an area with freeze-thaw conditions, a sealer should always be used on concrete to prevent moisture absorption.
Plus, sealants make cleaning oil and other fluids that leak from your vehicle easier because liquid can not seep into the tiny pores in your driveway. Your concrete will be protected from moisture absorption, mold, mildew, exposure to chemicals, grease stains and oil stains. Sealing your concrete every two to three years will keep your driveway in tip-top shape! Your concrete driveway or decorative stamped concrete will look great, no matter how old it is.
7
Will Sealing make my concrete and interlock surface slippery?
Concrete can be slippery when wet however we add a traction enhancing product (Anti Slip) to our sealer before it is applied.
8
How much does it cost?
The cost of sealing is variable and depends on the size of the area to be sealed, amount of preparation work needed for your specific surface [e.g. removal of overgrowth, oil or rust stains, amount of sealer required (If you have never sealed it may require additional coats, also some surfaces like interlock absorb more sealer than stamped concrete ergo these surfaces require a heavier/multiple coating).

Because concrete is very porous, it can really absorb liquid. In freeze-thaw areas, the expansion of liquids creates cracks that can destroy the surface of unsealed concrete. Moisture that penetrates concrete can freeze and thaw repeatedly, causing it to shift and crack.
This can also lead to mold and mildew buildup. Chemicals like oil, salt, and fertilizer can discolour and damage unsealed concrete. Oil-spill and stains can create lasting damage to unsealed concrete. Oxidation from the sun will down the concrete, causing chips and flakes on the top surface.
